David has been designing and building furniture, custom interiors, and fine wood products, out of his shop in Gray, Maine for many years. Before that he studied fine woodworking and furniture making at the College of the Redwoods, in Fort Bragg California and completed design courses at the Boston Architectural Center.
As a designer David often collaborates with other craftspeople to create custom interiors that offer clients a level of creativity and quality that can't be found elsewhere. When he is not working on custom interiors David designs and builds the products that he sells at the Center for Maine Crafts in West Gardiner. David also exhibits his work at fine craft shows through out New England.
David's products include small boxes, totes, tables and chairs. The products are generally made from North American hardwoods including maple, cherry and oak. Additionally, the works include fine joinery, custom hardware and a hand rubbed finish. The finishes used are either shellac, varnish or linseed oil. After the application, it’s rubbed to a silky smooth polish.
Recent projects include the woodwork and furniture for a home in Marblehead, Massachusetts; custom designs for a client in Colts Neck, New Jersey; and a display of David's work at the CraftBoston Holiday Crafts Show.
In 2011 David will be displaying his designs at the spring CraftBoston show at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, and the the Center for Maine Craft in West Gardiner, Maine. More information about these shows and David's work can be requested by emailing David.
